Student leadership at Innisfail State College is comprised of three groups of students:
1. Student Council
2. Indigenous Leaders (ILT & ILF)
3. Instrumental Music Band Leaders
Student leaders are expected to set an example for their peers and promote a positive and inclusive learning environment. This involves organizing and leading events, participating in decision-making processes, and advocating for the needs and interests of other students.
Student leaders have a variety of roles and responsibilities, which can include:
1. Representing the student body: Student leaders are often responsible for representing the interests and concerns of their peers to the school administration and other stakeholders.
2. Organising events: Student leaders may organise events such as fundraisers, social events, or volunteer activities.
3. Mentoring other students: Student leaders may serve as mentors to other students, providing guidance and support to help them succeed academically and personally.
4. Advocating for student rights: Student leaders may be involved in advocating for student rights and promoting social justice within their school and community.
5. Encouraging student involvement: Student leaders may work to promote student involvement in extracurricular activities and other initiatives that contribute to the school community.
Some common characteristics of a student leader includes strong communication skills, a sense of responsibility and accountability, a willingness to collaborate and work with others, and a passion for making a positive impact on the school.
Overall, being a student leader at Innisfail State College, means taking an active role in shaping the culture and community of our school and using skills and talents to make a positive difference in the lives of other students
